Father’s Day Gift Ideas

• Written by Josh

Father’s Day is nearly here, which means it’s time to start thinking about gifts – if you haven’t bought them already. It can be a struggle at times as you try and think what he may like. So, to try and give you some help we have put together a selection of gift ideas.

Father’s Day is usually held on the third Sunday of June each year; this year it is on June 19th. It is typically celebrated by giving gifts and Father’s Day cards to your dad. It is thought that the Father’s Day tradition began around 100 years ago in America, though didn’t become truly popular until after WW2.

Here is a collection of gifts to ensure your dad has a good day.

Movies/Music

An excellent and simple option when it comes to Father’s Day – or birthdays and Christmas for that matter. If anybody knows what type of movies and music your father likes, then it is you. If he likes action movies then the Fast & Furious series would be a good choice. Maybe he likes classic western movies. If so, then just search for John Wayne or Clint Eastwood. You should also think about whether there were any recent releases he wanted to see. They may be available on DVD, or you could take him to the cinema to see them.

As for music, we would go for some old Rock ‘n’ Roll music from the 70’s and 80’s. However, if you know what his favourites are, consider a Best Hits CD. Or perhaps a band he loves have released a new album. When thinking of Father’s Day gifts, you might also consider taking him to a live concert, especially at the summer festivals.

Beer

Beer will almost always go down well with dads and a crate will do him nicely as a Father’s Day present. There are always offers on at supermarkets so you can even mix and match the types of beer you buy. For a real treat, consider buying him some craft beers, or even a subscription box.

Watches

A nice watch would go down a treat with most fathers out there. Whether it’s a watch for a special occasion or just for everyday use there are plenty of options available. You could choose a watch with a metal or leather strap, depending on what your father would prefer. If your dad is into sports, more advanced watches could be the ideal Father’s Day gifts, as they can track heartrate and steps whilst also helping him keep track of time.

Track Day

If your father is a bit of a thrill-seeker or loves his cars then this is an ideal Father’s Day gift idea. Circuits and airfields across the country run track days throughout the year. These allow you to drive some of the most exotic supercars ever made.

Your father can get behind the wheel of a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, or Audi R8, just to name a few. Some circuits even allow visitors the chance to drive single-seater cars which aren’t too dissimilar to a Formula One car.

You also have the option to go off-road in 4X4 and rally experiences. Or if you think your dad is quite skilful with the handling of cars you can buy him a drifting experience where he will learn how to pull off the perfect drift.

Even the cheapest packages allow you to drive two cars – two laps in each – and to be taken around the circuit by a racing driver in a high-speed lap. Whichever package you choose to buy your father, we are confident that he will thoroughly enjoy his day.

Gift Cards

If you can’t decide on a specific present then ordering a gift card might be the safest option for you. You can buy one for a specific shop such as B&Q and Argos or you can buy a high street voucher which covers various stores. You can also purchase iTunes vouchers and Xbox or PlayStation cards if your father is into his gadgets.

Personal Alarm

A gift of safety and security, a personal alarm system from LifeConnect24 can help give your father peace of mind that he has help should he have a fall at home. This is ideal if your father lives alone or has any long-term medical condition.

With our personal alarms, all your father would need to do in an emergency is push the red button on his pendant – which he will be wearing around his wrist or neck. This sends an alert to our TSA-Accredited Response Team, who work 24/7, 365 days a year in order to provide complete coverage.

They will react by trying to speak with your father over the alarm’s loudspeaker to assess the situation. They will then begin to call your father’s emergency contacts which will most likely include his family, close friends, and neighbours. The emergency services will also be contacted if they are needed.

You can find out more about our personal alarms by reading our online guide, or you can give our friendly team a call on 0800 999 0400. You can also make your order over the phone, or you can choose to order through our website.
